Not surprising, too much of everything is bad. This concept also apply to sleeping too much as well. Sleeping is one of the ways to relax and calm one’s mind or health. Getting too little of it can lead to health problems and also getting too much of it can lead to health risks. Is over sleeping really bad, what are the health risks?

According to the national sleep foundation, the standard of normal has been considered eight hours per day. Recent research say that seven to nine hours is normal and healthy for adults between age 18 to 65 years.

Is over sleeping bad? Health risks

However, the standard of adult is quite different from youngsters. The national sleep foundation recent guideline are, new born baby should have 14 – 17 hours of sleep a day including naps, infant is 12-15 hours a day, toddlers 11 – 14 hours, school age children should have 9-11 hours while teenager is 8-10 hours a day.

Sleeping too much, sleeping beyond the normal standard can lead to greater health risks.

What happen when you sleep too much?
According to research, when you sleep too much there are;
i. Chances that you might be depressed.
ii. Higher risk of heart diseases.
iii. Higher risk of stroke
iv. Increase in pain.
v. High risks of diabetes
vi. High risk of heart diseases
vii. High risk of obesity.
Be sure to visit your doctor if you notice that you sleep too much because sleeping too much is bad for your health.
