Career is one of the most important term that defines human. And billions of options are out there,  hereby making one confused as to which to choose. This article might be of help. Now, How to choose a career path.

How to choose a career path

First, you need Self Assessment before you choose a career. You need to assess yourself, your interests, values, soft skills together with your personality type. What are the things that you like to do? What are those skills you know or can do naturally?. Access yourself!

Secondly, make a list of occupations that you like or you think you like. Now, you probably have like one hundred on the list, right? It’s fine and normal. Still on the journey on how to choose a career path.

Now, explore the Occupations list you make, check each one with your skills and personality traits. For example, you want to be a writer and you don’t like writing. Choosing a career as writer can be difficult for someone that does not like writing.

Remove all the careers listed that does not suit your value, skills or personality. You probably have few careers on your list now, right?

Furthermore, make a research on the current list of careers you have on the list. Google is nearer to you. It is also advisable to make enquires  from those who are already there.

Most importantly, use government – produced labour market information to get data about earnings and job outlook. It is very important,dont end up choosing dead career.

Now is the time to make a “Short List”  because you have gather more information on all the listed careers. Based on what you learned from your research so far, begin eliminating the careers you don’t want to pursue any further.

Remove the ones which the duties does not appeal to you. Eliminate careers with “Weak Job Outlook” rule out the career you are unwillingly to fulfill the educational and other requirements or if you lack the soft skills.

Ultimately, after all your research, you are ready to make a career choice. Pick the profession that you think will bring you the most satisfaction based on all the information you gathered. However, you can always change or add to your career at any point in life.

In conclusion, Once you make your a decision, identity and set your goals. Let all the research you make about required education and training be your guide. Have a Mentor, you can’t do all by yourself and do not forget to ask questions, a lot of questions especially when you seems to be lost.
